Despite orders to the contrary, Captain Vanya Sokolov gave the command to push forward to attack the flank of the Diyu class vessel ahead. After months patrolling the Sea of Okhotsk finally, there was action and an enemy to fight. If he achieved the first kill, it would only be a matter of time before a promotion was due. Surely the cursed Commodore Belyaev only wanted him to hold back so that he could get the honour of first blood. Captain Sokolov couldn’t help but admire the craftsmanship of the Diyu as he closed the distance. The jade green tiles that covered the roofs, ornamental dragonheads cast onto the muzzles of guns and the rich golden lacquer made the Empire ships look like works of art, glinting in the sun. Sokolov vowed to take one as a prize and gave orders to flank the squadron of Diyu and prepare the marines for boarding. As the Kutsov under his command broke formation he could almost hear the cheers he’d receive once this battle was over. Soon, the reverie was blown away as the Empire ships began to turn on the spot, a manoeuvre impossible for the Commonwealth ships. It was then that Captain Sokolov realised that his pride had come before his fall and he slipped back into his chair with resignation. His last thought was a prayer of forgiveness before he and the scores of men under his command were engulfed in alchemical flame.

The Vauban is the largest and the oldest of the early generation levant vessels still in service to the Republique. Photojournalists at the time of her launch captured the Vauban in the imagination of the French people. An indelible image is left of an engineering marvel hanging majestically low in the sky, sending waves of her heroic fighters and bombers to victory.
It is said that in the weeks following the public showing of the first Vauban Sky -Fortress, French military recruitment centres reported a 22% increase in people signing up. Requests for an assignment within the Service Aeronautique were so prevalent that public relations officers had to be brought in to veer the public into positions that were more needed. Young recruits were persuaded into infantry roles with the promise that it might lead to an assault position on a Levant cruiser with promotion to a Vauban on the horizon. These things, while certainly possible, were in reality quite unlikely.
Many a lucky pilot would rise to the fortunate position of crewing a Frelon Bomber. These incredible aircraft seem impossibly large when standing next to one, so much so that the wings were designed to fold in order to fit them aboard carriers; even the mighty Vauban can only carry limited squadrons. The significant payload of the Frelon bomber allows them to cause serious damage to enemy fortifications as well as the largest capital ships and armoured divisions.
Now the Vauban has the reputation of having the best of the best crews among the Service Aeronautique. While a small percentage of those original recruits have found their way to their dream positions, those that have got there have done so with hard work, dedication, and a not-insignificant amount of luck. This luck has rubbed off on the Vauban class, with each one having a story of defeating seemingly insurmountable odds. At least, that’s what the publicists say.

The military optimism of the Union is exemplified by their enthusiastic bellows whenever a Union dirigible passes overhead. I’ve had multiple reports from assets placed in vital positions describing their, please excuse the term, “hooting and hollering”. Of course, it shows a lack of engineering skill that they aren’t simply appalled by the reliance on newfangled airship designs over our vastly superior, tried-and-tested rotorcraft. Admittedly they seem to be doing well spreading their influence thanks to the smaller fuel requirements of those designs, but I have no doubt that a minor rerouting of supply lines will remedy the problem. We simply have to make recommendations to any of our forces that they should make an effort to destroy any Bogota Carryalls which accompany the airships so as to cause problems with their logistics. I understand that won’t be easy while taking fire from the airships themselves, but my suggestions certainly make theoretical sense.

The Ergun Assault Battleship has no peer when it comes to leading landing operations. Most naval forces believe in the idea of multiple, smaller vessels. Admitting that while they may lose some, they can’t lose them all. The Emperor believes that losing troops before they’ve even made landfall is madness. To this end, the Empire built the Ergun. A resilient battleship that can take the fire of coastal defences before reaching its target. Volleys of alchemical rockets and gun battery fire pummel into enemy emplacements and shore defences as the vessel closes in. This makes the Ergun a huge target for fire which canny Commodores can make use of by setting up feints and counterattacks. This helps to mitigate the damage taken by the Assault battleship before it reaches the shoreline. Then with a clash of metal, the ramp descends and the assault begins. Once the troops have disembarked the paddlewheels easily extricate the behemoth from the land and back to sea, all the better to support the troops from afar.

The Khodynka Heavy Skycruiser “Nebesnaya Gora” hung in the sky, defiant against the laws of nature. Ablative armour plates had been blown off and small fires were being extinguished by weary skymen. The engine at the heart of the beast rumbled on, with nothing but the occasional splutter to suggest there was anything wrong at all. The Commonwealth fleet had been ambushed while making routine patrols around the Barents Sea, The Scions of Jutland had appeared like wolves in the night and unleashed a stream of rockets that would have obliterated a lesser vessel. Only the crew of Nebesnaya Gora understood that this night would be a loss to the Scions. Steel, molten from the intense heat of the barrage fell from the sky and yet the Khodynka remained in the air, only having lost redundant systems and armour designed to fail without letting worse damage through. As the battle went on, more damage was sustained by both sides. Scions and Commonwealth crew alike sharing a freezing tomb. Only the Nebesnaya Gora remained, damaged but stoic and impressively, still airborne.

This miniatures set is part of the NUKA WORLD wave for Fallout: Wasteland Warfare! ‘Because clearly a Deathclaw wasn’t bad enough!’
When Old Dr McDermont had a cloning machine, he made a big mistake. By combining all the best aspects of the Jackson chameleon and the American alligator, he created one of the worst creatures to ever tear a Raider in half. Thankfully, he didn’t live long enough to see his voraciously hungry children break out of their home and out into the big wide world, sadly, because they ate him. Circle of life, I suppose.

‘Weaponizing Nuka-Cola is a sin, godless robots! How dare you waste what I could drink!’ In the lovely Starlight Theatre, you could have once sat down and enjoyed slow service, flat cola, and cold food. Despite the centuries, not a lot has changed, bar the chances of death due to highly pressurized Nuka-Cola being fired through your skull - that’s increased by about 5%. Manned by all forms of Robotic help, Nukatrons and Mr Frothys of all varieties can be found still serving the various corpses that act as the theatre’s only guests for the last 100 years.

‘I don’t care how dumb it looks, my caps are always on the Sentry bot.’ The Model X9000 was meant to demonstrate the next wave of Robotic warfare, a sleek, child friendly model that was meant to draw the eye and then reduce all hostiles within a 1 mile radius to glowing radioactive ashes. The models on display at Nuka World were meant to act as an attraction for the public, but it’s not overly common for attractions to be armed with gatling lasers, at least not to my knowledge.

‘The Pack are a lot like eating centuries old candy, bright, exciting and probably going to kill you.’
Brightly coloured, bedecked in whatever interesting knick-knacks they can tape to themselves and wholly ruled by their moment to moment instincts, The Pack are less of a gang and more of... well, a pack. Following their Alpha to the end, members of The Pack tend to be spurred on to random acts of violence throughout the day, not too worried about the reason why, just if it’ll be fun or not. Every choice they make tends to follow that logic, fun over all other things, sadly for everyone else, they think fighting is really, really fun.

‘It’s nice to meet someone and know they have an exact caps price in mind they would charge to kill you.’
If there’s one good thing to say about the Operators, it’s that they’re well organised, mostly thanks to their leadership, partly due to the constantly flowing caps. Brother-sister team of Mags and William Black run the roost, fueled by a love of pragmatic decision making and cold hard caps. Whilst Lizzie Wyath lurks in the background brewing all sorts of chemical concoctions, some that make others more susceptible to influence... coincidence? I think not!

‘I’ve heard people say never judge a book by its cover, well Nisha’s book is covered in knives and blood, so I’m going to judge it anyway.’
I don’t think you can describe the leaders of the Disciples as such, it’s not charisma that keeps Nisha on top, it’s the constant threat of dismemberment for standing against her. Human resources at its best. Habits like that keep other Disciples close, like Nixie, with her girlish love of popping out eyeballs, or Savoy, whose loyalty to Nisha is matched only by the fact he could really go for killing someone, like, right now.

Infantry weapons teams are a key component of any Bolt Action army, providing as they do great tactical flexibility for your force. Sniper teams, anti-tank teams and flamethrower teams are among the most prevalent, presenting your opponent with multiple challenges to overcome.
British forces were armed with 2-inch mortar for close support purposes. Two men were needed to operate it. An NCO was responsible for carrying and firing the weapon while the other carried ammunition. Weighing less than 11Ibs and offering an effective range of 500 yards, these mortars were quick to manoeuvre and deploy as needed.
Snipers were armed with a SMLE No.4 Rifle equipped with a No.32 Mk.1 telescopic sight. The team carried fifty rounds of ammunition, five tracer round and fiver-armour-piercing rounds. Two No.36 Mills bombs or two No.77 smoke grenades were also carried, along with binoculars and a camouflage net.
The portable flamethrower available to British forces was the Ack Pack. At a weight of 64Ibs, the Ack Packs could be carried and operated by one man. Fully loaded, the Ack Pack was capable of ten bursts each of a two second duration. With a range of fifty yards it was a truly fearsome weapon that excelled in clearing bunkers and buildings.

Given that airships are spotted from a greater distance than surface vessels, the crews that spy them tend to have an extended time in which to panic before their aerial opponents move in for the kill. This is doubly true for Nasr Skyships and their variant classes. Along with smaller Hirka and Alsaqr machines, these could be from the Sultanate or the Crimson League. Either allegiance will imbue dread upon their enemies for different reasons. The Sultanate sky navy has well trained marines, fighting for the glory of their Great Power. The other foe, equally as terrifying, is the Crimson League of Scheherazade. A bloodthirsty band of pirates whose Janissary assault troops seize whatever goods they can find and give no quarter. Occasionally, Skyships are equipped with underslung Sabiha attack fighters that are released to destroy ship defences and 'soften up targets' before the rest of the fleet arrive.

"Working in the merchant navy has always been tough but now it's worse than ever! Used to be we'd have to cope with months away from home, the physical labour of dealing with cargo and whatever wet hell the weather could throw at us. I've lost too many mates off the cape and had to tell their families the news without everything else that's been going on these last few years. More and more of our jobs have needed military escorts to keep us from being boarded by sky pirates and the like. I've seen huge mechanical squid in the Bay of Bengal, been attacked by great hovering discs of steel in the South Atlantic and even huge metal men flying across the Mediterranean. Don't let them fool you, it's getting harder and harder to be an honest sailor. I'm getting too old for this nonsense!"

It was an engineering marvel, rivalling even the greatest creations of the other Great Powers. It was named for the most powerful aspiration of the Union of Federated States, an ultimate goal which it could not help but achieve. Destiny. When it was but the New World, settlers had spread across the continent proving to themselves, without a shadow of a doubt, that Manifest Destiny was an assignment from the Almighty. Since then they had mastered any land they arrived at and seemed intent on working their way across the globe. The Destiny Sky Fortress is the ultimate mechanical extension of this outlook. It can soar across the world launching fighters wherever they are needed, resources are now being collected to create more and more of these extensions of the Union's ideology, in an attempt to create a network of air power that will finally bring Manifest Destiny to all.

The waters of this particular stretch of the Bay of Bengal were quiet for now, but they would remain so. When the Empire battlefleet that was massing in the Andaman Sea arrived they would become a roiling, violent tempest. The line drawn between the territories of the Crown and the Empire may not be literal lines through the ocean, but as soon as an unwelcome vessel crossed from one territory to the other alarms would be raised and fighters launched. Ceylon platforms supported by Nagaraja Tactical Cruisers and their escorts were running drills in anticipation of the predicted attack. The crews were tense and tired but they had no doubt that they would repel the assault from the Empire, they had done so before and would do so again.

Ever since the coronation of Sultan Mustafa, Princess Scheherazade has kept herself amused using the funds she received from the government of her brother to continue her research as a member of the Covenant of Enlightened. She was instrumental in funding and developing several Covenant projects and served as a Covenant ambassador to several capitals during the early years of her brother’s reign. Exactly what role she played in the Covenant’s Schism is unclear – as is our understanding of the event.
In any case, her talents as both a leader and a strategist called her to explore other avenues for profit and adventure – and she expanded her own ‘Promethean Complex’ into a veritable armoury, developing many different advanced weapons for sale to the Great Powers or for the use of Enlightened forces. Her contact with the Covenant’s “warmaster” Schneider fostered an interest in military activities and the romance of a mercenary life. It is no surprise that the Princess established her own mercenary outfit early in her Covenant career. [Postscript: We believe the princess is operating from somewhere in Morocco, although that is pure conjecture. I would ask that we consider a detachment of Iapetus or Astraea to investigate.]
This ‘Crimson League’ is dismissed as a vanity project so far as I gather amongst the halls of power. Staffed uniformly by noble adventurers and outlandish aristocrats, the organisation has nonetheless developed a reputation amongst certain quarters as highly effective. Reports garnered from their operational activities indicate a technologically advanced force of unique aerial vehicles and experienced crews, capable of working together despite their flamboyant personalities and wreaking havoc in their wake. [Postscript: A contract with the Crimson League can run into expenses of hundreds of thousands in Sterling so I am told.]
The Crimson League has become a thorn in the side of the Sublime Porte – frequently striking at perceived threats to the Sultanate without the government’s blessing at the whim of the Exiled Princess and frequently making a diplomatic nuisance of themselves. There is a more worrying side to these concerns however, if the Sultan were to fall, would his infant son be able to rally the military to his side against the might of the House of Gold? And would the Exiled Princess simply sit out and allow her nephew to succeed to the throne that she believes is rightfully hers? And if she did intervene – would she bring the Crimson League with her? [Postscript: I believe a comparison with the Commonwealth’s Black Wolf and his proximity to the Tzar’s court would be apt here.]

Tales of the Honourable Eclipse Company had spread through the military forces of the Union of Federated States over the past few years. Being a largely aerial based force they had influence over land battles, naval conflicts and particularly in air based assaults. Opinions were largely varied. For some, they were a welcome reinforcement, arriving just in time to save the day. For others, a logistical complication. More traditional strategists were annoyed that the HEC operated with their own autonomy, frustratedly figuring out how to incorporate them into the larger operations while still allowing them creative execution of their orders. Then there were some that hated the apparently “honourable” mercenaries. Those men who experienced what it was like when the paycheck ran out. Soldiers whose last look at the HEC was as they withdrew from battle without warning. The contract was over and damn the eyes of whoever had the misfortune of fighting alongside them. Fortunately for the Honourable Eclipse Company, survivors in this instance were rare and few lived to spread word. Besides, the press offices of the HEC did great work making them look good.

Commandant Matthias Alborough gazed from the huge viewports of the Chione class submarine Benefaction. The darkness of the deep ocean might have terrified weaker men, but Alborough felt no such trepidation. To him, the void ahead was an abstraction of the future, unknown and endless in scope. A thing that he would impose his will upon for the benefit of all. Below him, moving across walkways and attending consoles, were officers relaying orders and constructs performing the menial tasks that kept a submersible of this size running. It was a hive of order that the Commandant knew would one day be replicated across the globe. The Covenant of the Enlightened held a sway on humanity that was growing by the day, despite the best efforts of the so-called Great Powers. Even now, the battlefleet that he was a part of, with its Euripides Automata and Plinius Support Carriers, was on its way to annihilate a platform network controlled by the Crown. If Pax Britannia could not protect its local infrastructure, then, of course, the fickle citizens of the area would be easy enough to bring into the fold of the Custodians. Protected. Safe. Placid.
